RAD - "Revenue Allocation District"

Below is a link to a presentation that was developed by the JCRA to explain the concept of a "RAD" or Revenue Allocation District. The RAD "concept" is not currently part of the redevelopment plan, but essentially a RAD would allow the city to issue bonds to raise capital for improvements within the district...the bonds would be secured by increased revenues coming out of the district...the revenues could result from increased PILOT fees or tax revenues.

The structures that have stood vacant for several years on the block next to the Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City are now gone, making room for a highly anticipated twin-tower project.

SOON TO BE GONE

Jersey City residents can finally say good-bye to the dilapidated buildings still standing next to the Journal Square PATH station.



By April 7, the remaining structures on the 1.5-acre site will be gone, a spokeswoman for one of the partners developing the site said yesterday. Work begins Monday, she said.

The Jersey City City Council invited the public to speak on the Greater Journal Square Redevelopment Plan last night, and 20 residents answered the call, the vast majority of them against it.
